What is liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding?

The term "Injection Molding" might be unfamiliar to some, but those who frequently work with liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products are well aware of its meaning. In the silicone industry, solid silicone is cheaper because it's machine-molded using Injection Molding. Liquid silicone rubber, however, requires Injection Molding molds, which is why LSR is more expensive than solid silicone. Each liquid silicone rubber product requires a new mold for every customer, leading to a higher unit price.
When customizing liquid silicone rubber products, the value of Injection Molding molds becomes apparent. Liquid silicone rubber is injected into the mold, which then rotates along two perpendicular axes while heating. Under the influence of gravity and heat, the plastic material gradually and evenly coats, melts, and adheres to the entire surface of the mold cavity, forming the desired shape. Essentially, the heated and melted material is injected into the mold cavity under high pressure, and after cooling and solidifying, the finished product is obtained. The mold and frame's weight provide the clamping force to prevent material leakage; and during the entire molding process, the material is almost unaffected by any external force other than gravity, thus offering the advantages of convenient machine-mold processing, short cycle times, and low costs.
